The Department of Physics organized a workshop entitled “Sustainable Synergy Workshop: Leadership Transition, Appreciating Dedication, and Building Innovation in the Department of Physics”, held on 9–10 January 2026 at the Kalimasada Ballroom, Griya Persada Convention Hotel & Resort, Yogyakarta. This activity aimed to evaluate the performance of the 2021–2026 management period, strengthen synergy among study programs, and formulate strategic steps for the future development of the Department of Physics.

The Physics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), organized a Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) activity for Doctoral (PhD) students from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on Wednesday, 10 December 2025. The activity was held at Hotel Grand Zuri Malioboro, Yogyakarta.
The Materials Science Pre-screening Internship Program 2025, organized by the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), once again offered students from various countries the opportunity to gain hands-on research experience in an international-standard laboratory environment. This year, two representatives from the Department of Physics, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM)—Larrisa Jestha Mahardhika and Husna Ajrina—successfully passed the selection process and participated in the onsite internship held in Nara, Japan, from 24 November to 6 December 2025. Larrisa has completed her master’s degree, while Husna is an active fourth-semester student in the Master’s Program in Physics.
Yogyakarta — The Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, has once again achieved remarkable recognition through the attainment of three awards at the Insan UGM Berprestasi 2025 ceremony. These awards reflect the university’s appreciation for members of its academic community and partners who have demonstrated exceptional dedication in innovation, scientific publication, and the utilization as well as downstream implementation of UGM’s research outputs.
Universitas Gadjah Mada once again demonstrated its position as one of the leading universities in Indonesia by achieving outstanding results in the 2025 National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad (ONMIPA). In this prestigious competition, held on 16–20 November 2025 at Universitas Padjadjaran, UGM successfully claimed the title of Overall Champion of ONMIPA 2025, securing a total of 6 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 6 bronze medals, and 1 honorable mention.
The Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada once again held a Guest Lecturer event as part of its commitment to providing global perspectives and enriching the academic experience of both students and faculty members. On 13 November 2025, the event took place in Meeting Room 1, Department of Physics, FMIPA UGM, featuring a speaker from the Kyushu Institute of Technology, Prof. Jin Nakamura.
