Universitas Gadjah Mada once again demonstrated its position as one of the leading universities in Indonesia by achieving outstanding results in the 2025 National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad (ONMIPA). In this prestigious competition, held on 16–20 November 2025 at Universitas Padjadjaran, UGM successfully claimed the title of Overall Champion of ONMIPA 2025, securing a total of 6 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 6 bronze medals, and 1 honorable mention.

The Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada once again held a Guest Lecturer event as part of its commitment to providing global perspectives and enriching the academic experience of both students and faculty members. On 13 November 2025, the event took place in Meeting Room 1, Department of Physics, FMIPA UGM, featuring a speaker from the Kyushu Institute of Technology, Prof. Jin Nakamura.

The Department of Physics, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), proudly hosts the Southeast Asian Workshop on Nuclear and Hadron Physics (SEANHP 2025), to be held on 19–21 August 2025 at UGM’s campus in Yogyakarta. This workshop serves as a scientific platform for researchers, academics, students, and professionals across Southeast Asia to discuss and share knowledge on the latest developments in nuclear and hadron physics.
The event will be officially opened by representatives of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UGM and will feature keynote speakers from leading institutions both in Indonesia and abroad. Throughout the workshop, participants will join various sessions presenting research findings and engaging in scientific discussions covering topics such as:
a. Hadron spectroscopy and structure
b. Hadrons in nuclear matter
c. Nuclear structure and reactions
d. Nuclear astrophysics
In addition to the main sessions, SEANHP 2025 also provides opportunities for collaboration and networking among participants, including a poster session dedicated to students and early-career researchers.

UGM’s Functional Materials and Instrumentation Physics Research Group Holds Community Service Program at Muhammadiyah 1 Senior High School Yogyakarta: Exploring Quantum Science, Careers, and Finance in the World of Physics
The Material and Instrumentation Physics Expertise Group (KBK) from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), once again held a Community Service Program (PKM) on Monday, July 14, 2025, at SMA Negeri 8 Yogyakarta. This event carried the theme International Year of Quantum Science and Technology: Building a Career and Financial Future with Physics and was attended by around 270 11th-grade students.
