The Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FMIPA UGM), conducted an academic visit to PT Yogya Presisi Tehnikatama Industri (YPTI) Kalasan on April 30, 2026. The activity, which took place from 09:00 to 12:00 WIB, was attended by the Dean of FMIPA UGM, Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Si., the Head of the Undergraduate Physics Study Program, Dr. Eng. Ahmad Kusumaatmaja, S.Si., M.Sc., the Secretary of the Undergraduate Physics Study Program, Dr. Juliasih Partini, S.Si., M.Si., as well as undergraduate students from the 2023 cohort.
This visit aimed to provide students with insights into the application of science and technology in the industrial sector, particularly in engineering manufacturing and high-precision engineering. In addition, the activity also served as a platform to strengthen relationships and explore potential collaborations between the Department of Physics FMIPA UGM and the industrial sector.
PT YPTI (PT Yogya Presisi Tehnikatama Industri) Kalasan is a nationally recognized engineering manufacturing company specializing in high-precision engineering services. The company focuses on the production of molds, precision parts, jig & fixtures, plastic injection component assembly, and prototype manufacturing. Through this visit, participants had the opportunity to directly observe the production processes, technologies utilized, and operational systems implemented in modern manufacturing industries.
During the visit, participants received presentations regarding the company profile, business processes, and the implementation of technology in production activities. Students were also invited to observe the production facilities and various stages of the manufacturing process carried out at PT YPTI. This activity provided practical learning experiences relevant to the development of students’ competencies in science and technology.
On this occasion, the Dean of FMIPA UGM, Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Si., emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities and industry in supporting the development of highly competent and adaptive human resources in response to technological advancements. Through activities such as this, students are expected to gain a deeper understanding of the professional world and become motivated to further develop both their academic and professional skills.
The academic visit was conducted smoothly and enthusiastically by all participants. Through this activity, it is expected that stronger synergy will be established between the Department of Physics FMIPA UGM and PT YPTI in supporting the advancement of education, research, and student competency development in the future.
