Yogyakarta, 31 August 2024 — Held at the Grand Rohan Hotel, BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency), in collaboration with FMIPA UGM, conducted the Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) event for the Master’s and Doctoral Physics students receiving BMKG scholarships.
BMKG was represented by Adityawarman, S.Si, M.Si (Acting Head of the Education and Training Center), Nina Amelia Sasmita, M.Si, M.PsiT (Head of Domestic Education Team), Deni Saiful, S.Kom, MMSI (Procurement Officer), and Ali Azimi, S.Tr (Member of the Foreign Education Team), who were present to review the progress of the scholarship recipients directly. Dr. rer. nat. Wiwit Suryanto, S.Si., M.Si Vice Dean for Research and Collaboration officially opened the event, in his speech, emphasized the importance of educational collaboration between FMIPA UGM and BMKG as part of the initiative to support BMKG’s program of producing 500 new Ph.D. holders by 2030.
During the monitoring session, the Master’s and Doctoral Physics students presented reports on their academic progress and research. Each student was allowed to show their academic progress and the research they were working on. These presentations were followed by a discussion and Q&A session, where students received direct feedback from the BMKG team as well as their academic advisors.
The event aimed to monitor the academic progress of the scholarship recipients and ensure that they completed their studies successfully. In his remarks, Adityawarman, S.Si, M.Si, Acting Head of the BMKG Education and Training Center, emphasized the crucial role of graduates from this program in supporting BMKG in advancing knowledge and technology to face climate challenges and disaster mitigation in the future.
This event is expected to encourage scholarship recipients to continuously improve the quality of their research and complete their studies on time while also making a tangible contribution to the development of Indonesia’s meteorology, climatology, and geophysics.
