UGM Physics Department Receives Visit from BRIN’s Nanotechnology and Material Research Organization for Research Collaboration Discussion

Yogyakarta, July 25, 2024 – The Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) received a visit from the team of the Nanotechnology and Material Research Organization – National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) on Thursday, July 25, 2024. This visit was conducted to explore potential research collaboration and technology development.

The BRIN delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr.Eng. Edi Suharyadi, S.Si., M.Eng., Head of the Physics Department of FMIPA UGM, along with other faculty members. During the meeting, which took place from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM WIB, both parties discussed various opportunities and potentials for conducting joint research in the fields of nanotechnology and materials.

Several topics in BRIN’s Nanotechnology and Material Research include various aspects such as Device/Components/System, Materials/Functions, Common Infrastructures (Science and Technology Fundamentals), and Nanoscience. The main focus of this discussion was to identify research areas that can be developed together and to design innovative and applicable research programs.

Additionally, during the visit, BRIN also presented their PhD scholarship program. This scholarship program is designed to support researchers and academics who wish to pursue doctoral studies in fields related to research and innovation. BRIN provided detailed explanations regarding the application requirements, benefits that scholarship recipients will receive, and the support that will be given throughout the study period.

This visit is expected to be the beginning of many productive research collaborations between BRIN and UGM (SDG 17). The collaboration in research and technology development in nanotechnology and materials reflects a commitment to building Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9). Through the offered scholarships, it is also hoped to produce quality and competent human resources in the field of research, thereby making a greater contribution to the development of science and technology in Indonesia (SDG 4).
