Yogyakarta, June 12, 2024 – The Physics Study Program at UGM continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing the quality of international education through collaboration with i-Shou University, Taiwan. Six undergraduate students from UGM’s Physics program have been accepted into the intensive “Post-Baccalaureate Two-Year Bachelor’s Degree Program” organized in partnership with i-Shou University. This program is designed to strengthen students’ competencies in the field of semiconductors, provide international learning experiences, and expand their academic and professional networks. Participants will undergo an intensive study period in Taiwan, utilizing the facilities and expertise available at i-Shou University, and will then have the opportunity to work for two years with partner companies in Taiwan.
Dr. Juliasih Partini, S.Si., M.Si., the program coordinator at UGM Physics Study Program, stated that this program offers a new academic experience, broadens international exposure for students, and provides opportunities to work directly in Taiwan. “We hope this program helps our students gain better education and prepare them for the workforce,” Dr. Juliasih said.
One of the students accepted into the program, Yehezkiel, expressed his enthusiasm. “My impression of this program is very positive as an opportunity for physics students to develop careers in the industry, especially in semiconductor materials, with scholarship support from universities in Taiwan that can enrich our experience and knowledge. I hope more physics students will join this program and see its significant benefits in applying their knowledge in Taiwan’s professional industry.” said Yehezkiel.
Prof. Huang from i-Shou University said, “During their studies, students will receive training in Mandarin language, semiconductors, and other competencies. After graduation, students will be guided to work in the industry with i-Shou University’s partner companies to gain work experience in Taiwan. Congratulations to the students accepted into this intensive program,” Prof. Huang added.
After completing the intensive program, students will have the opportunity to work in Taiwan through i-Shou University’s partner companies. This not only provides international work experience but also expands their career opportunities in the future. This program represents one of the ways the Physics Study Program at UGM continues to innovate and contribute to global education. With this program, the Physics Study Program at UGM hopes to continue producing excellent graduates ready to compete on the international stage.
This program focuses on improving the quality of education through international collaboration and the opportunity to learn in a new academic environment, aligning with SDG 4: Quality Education. It provides students with the chance to gain international work experience in Taiwan, supporting inclusive economic growth and decent work, aligning with SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
