PROSES PENDIDIKAN
Program Doktor (S3) Fisika terdiri dari perkuliahan, pengarahan minat dan perencanaana beban studi. Jadwal pelaksanaannya dibahas oleh tim pembimbing dan mahasiswa S3 bersangkutan di awal program. Sistem pelaksanaan penyelenggaraan pendidikan telah dirancang sedemikian rupa sehingga memungkinkan penyelesaian pada waktu yang telah ditetapkan. Mahasiswa diwajibkan mempresentasikan hasil penelitiannya di tingkat Program Studi minimal satu kali dalam satu semester.
Pada dasarnya pendidikan Program Doktor (S3) Fisika di UGM terdiri atas

  1. Pendidikan Kemampuan Dasar
  2. Pendidikan Kekhususan / Minat
  3. Penelitian

Pendidikan Kemampuan Dasar dan Pendidikan Kekhususan / Minat diwujudkan dalam bentuk

  • perkuliahan
  • interaksi akademik
  • penelusuran minat akademik
  • studi mandiri
  • kerja laboratorium

Penelitian diakhiri dengan penulisan disertasi dan ujian akhir (promosi).

BEBAN dan MASA STUDI
Sesuai dengan peraturan Universitas Gadjah Mada No.:70/P/SK/Set.R/2002 tentang Program Doktor di UGM, beban dan masa studi diatur dengan ketentuan sebagai berikut:

  • Bagi peserta yang telah berpendidikan S2 Fisika sekurang-kurangnya menempuh 40 SKS yang terdiri dari sekurang-kurangnya 8 SKS matakuliah dan 32 SKS disertasi, dengan maksimum masa studi 10 semester
  • Bagi peserta yang telah berpendidikan S2 di luar bidang Fisika sekurang-kurangnya menempuh 52 SKS yang terdiri dari sekurang-kurangnya 20 SKS matakuliah dan 32 SKS disertasi, dengan maksimum masa studi 11 semester
  • Bagi peserta yang telah berpendidikan S1 bidang Fisika sekurang-kurangnya menempuh 76 SKS yang terdiri dari sekurang-kurangnya 44 SKS matakuliah dan 32 SKS disertasi, dengan maksimum masa studi 12 semester
  • Bagi peserta yang telah berpendidikan S1 di luar bidang Fisika sekurang-kurangnya menempuh 88 SKS yang terdiri dari sekurang-kurangnya 56 SKS matakuliah dan 32 SKS disertasi, dengan maksimum masa studi 13 semester

Mahasiswa Program S3 Fisika wajib mengambil minimal 8 SKS matakuliah program S3 Fisika yang ditentukan oleh oleh Pengelola Program S3 berdasarkan evaluasi saat rapat penerimaan calon mahasiswa S3. Nama matakuliah beserta dosen pengampu matakuliah tersebut akan diberikan kepada masing-masing mahasiswa saat awal registrasi sebagai mahasiswa baru Program S3 Ilmu Fisika FMIPA UGM. Pengambilan matakuliah per semester maksimum 12 SKS sesuai dengan bidang minat penelitian dan persetujuan pembimbing utama atau Pengelola Program S3 Fisika

SISTEM EVALUASI
Evaluasi terhadap kemampuan akademik peserta dilaksanakan melalui ujian, seminar, tugas-tugas, makalah, penyusunan usulan penelitian, dan ujian komprehenasif. Secara garis besar sistem evaluasi meliputi:

  • Ujian matakuliah dasar dan minat
  • Ujian komprehensif kelayakan usulan penelitian
  • Evaluasi pada penelitian calon disertasi

Ujian Komprehensif dapat dilaksanakan setelah mahasiswa

  1. lulus semua matakuliah yang diwajibkan sesuai persyaratan pada bagian K.2 di atas
  2. telah dinyatakan siap dengan usulan penelitian disertasinya
  3. telah mempunyai kemampuan berbahasa Inggris setara dengan minimal TOEFL Score 450

Ujian komprehensif mencakup: penguasaan metodologi penelitian, penguasaan materi bidang Fisika, kemampuan penalaran dan kemampuan sistematisasi, dan perumusan hasil pemikirannya. Setelah mahasiswa dinyatakan lulus ujian komprehensif, mahasiswa dinyatakan sebagai calon doktor. Penelitian untuk disertasi dilaksanakan setelah lulus ujian komprehensif dan telah menyelesaikan tugas-tugas yang diberikan oleh tim penguji pada ujian komprehensif. Naskah disertasi disusun atas dasar hasil penelitian di bawah bimbingan Tim Pembimbing. Naskah disertasi yang sudah disetujui Tim Pembimbing dinilai oleh Tim Penilai. Evaluasi terakhir dari calon disertasi dilakukan pada ujian akhir (promosi).
Ujian akhir (promosi) dapat dilakukan jika mahasiswa telah mempunyai kemampuan berbahasa Inggris setara dengan minimal TOEFL Score 500.
